With this simulator, we can visit an inaccessible place

This article appeared in Le Parisien, February 22, 2012, reporting Scrome's optronic capabilities in the field of panoramic image projection systems.

The engineers of Scrome, a company based in Antony, have just developed a computer simulator that makes it possible to immerse yourself in lifelike environments.

Antony, yesterday. The Catopsys simulator projects images onto the walls of the room where it is installed that are as sharp as those projected onto a screen. It will first be offered to military to train soldiers under realistic conditions, before having civilian applications.

Better than the Wii! With your hand on the joystick, you walk through the main square, turn around the fountain, and presto! Turn around for a little slalom between the trees of the square... All around, the landscape is larger than life, from floor to ceiling. It will make you giddy. Change of scenery: head for the mountains! Don't get dizzy, you'd think you were really there, especially with the sound of wind through the treetops...

A revolutionary video game? For now, Catopsys is a serious tool that will be shown at the next Eurosatory, the global defense and security trade show this June in Villepinte (Seine-Saint-Denis). It's a simulator that offers total immersion in a 360° virtual world, developed by Scrome, an optical mechanics company that has been based in Antony for almost a year. "It's a world first!" boast its designers.
